Bread Stuffing

Ingredients

  • 1 Loaf day-old bread, cut into sm. cubes
  • 1/2 C butter, melted
  • 2 ribs celery, diced
  • 1/2 LB mushrooms, chopped
  • 2 med carrots, peeled & diced
  • 1 lg onion, peeled & diced
  • 1 tsp rosemary
  • 1 tsp sage
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 2 tsp parsley, chopped
  • 2 C chicken or turkey stock
  • turkey drippings

Preparation

Step 1

in lg. saute pan, heat butter
add celery, carrots, mushrooms & onions
saute for 10 min or until vegies are softened
now add herbs & saute for 2-3 more minutes

place bread crumbs in lg. mixing bowl
add vegies mixture
toss together w/ S & P

add chicken stock to moisten
be careful not to add too much stock to make stuffing pasty
pour any excess turkey drippings
toss gently

transfer to 2 or 4-QT casserole
cover & bake 30 min @ 350
