Ingredients
- 1 C sugar
- 3/4 C shortening
- 1/4 C molasses
- 1 egg
- 2 C flour
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp grd. cinnamon
- 1 tsp grd. cloves
- 1 tsp grd. ginger
- 1/4 tsp dry mustard
- 1/4 tsp salt
Preparation
Step 1
mix sugar & shrotening really well
4-5 min
until light & fluffy
add molasses & egg
mix really well again
combine all other ingriedents
add to rest of mix
don't overmix
put 1/2 C brown sugar into shallow bowl
scoop tablespoon of dough
roll it into brown sugar to coat
place on cookie sheet
bake @ 400 approx 9-10 min,
rotating half way through
cookies should just barely be crisp at edges
leave on cookie sheets on counter 3-5 min
transfer to cookie rack or counter
