Ingredients
- Suggested additions (add some or all):
- 1 gallon of water
- 1 cup of salt
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- Mix to dissolve salt and sugar
- 1 bunch of sage
- 1 bunch of parsley
- 1 bunch of thyme
- 1 head of garlic, roughly chopped
- 4 bay leaves
- 2 T black peppercorns, crushed
Preparation
Step 1
If adding the above, heat the basic brine to a simmer so the flavors will easily infuse into the liquid. Cool the brine before placing the turkey in it. A 15 pound turkey should be brined for 24 hours, for larger birds increase brining time to 36 hours.
