Overnight Sausage And Grits

  • 3 cups hot cooked grits
  • 1 pound bulk sausage cooked, crumbled
  • 2 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese - (10 oz)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 3 tablespoons butter melted
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Step 1

In a large bowl, mix grits, sausage, and cheese. Beat egg in milk; stir into the grits mixture. Add butter and garlic powder. Transfer to a greased baking dish (13 by 9 inches). Cover and chill 8 hours or overnight.

Remove from refrigerator 30 minutes before baking. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Let stand for 5 minutes before cutting.

This recipe yields 10 to 12 servings.
