Frosting: Cooked Frosting

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/3 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 cup water, divided
  • 1/4 cup egg white powder (Just Whites)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Preparation

Step 1

Combine the sugar, corn syrup, and 1/2 cup of the water in a medium saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring frequently, until the sugar is dissolved.

In a large bowl, beat the egg white powder and the remaining 1/2 cup water with an electric mixer on low speed until foamy. Increase the speed to high and beat until the mixture forms soft peaks. Continue beating and gradually add the hot syrup and the vanilla extract. Beat until the mixture becomes thick and glossy, about 5 minutes.

The frosting should be used immediately once it is made.
