  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 cup cocoa
  • 3 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 cups milk
  • 5 tbsp. flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Step 1

Cream butter and sugar. Mix in remaining ingredients. Drop by heaping teaspoons onto ungreased sheet. Bake 7 to 8 minutes at 425 degrees. Don not overbake. Let cool. Note: this is the recipe as written. I don't add the eggs to make it more like brownies instead of cake.

Cook flour and milk until thick......stirring constantly. Cool. Cream together the shortening, sugar, salt, and vanilla. Add flour mixture. Beat well until very smooth and not grainy. Drop by tablespoons onto cool devil dongs. Top with another devil dog.
