Fanny May Fudge

Ingredients

  • 4 cups sugar
  • 1 cup evaporated milk (use remaining for "Brown-Eyed Susans")
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 6 ounces marshmallows (about 25 large marshmallows)
  • 12 ounces chocolate chips
  • 2 ounces bittersweet chocolate
  • 1 cup chopped nuts, if desired

Preparation

Step 1

Mix sugar, evaporated milk, vanilla, and butter in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Once boiling, stir and boil 2 minutes (candy thermometer should read 234 - 240 degrees F). Turn off heat, add marshmallows, and stir until melted. Stir in chocolate. Whip with a spoon or beater until thick (5-10 minutes, or so). Add nuts if desired. Pour into a greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Cool and cut into squares.
