Waffles

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 1/3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 cup crisco
  • 2 eggs (seperated)
  • 2 cups buttermilk

Preparation

Step 1

Heat waffle iron.
Whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Cut in shortening, set aside. In a separate bowl separate eggs, whisk the whites until stiff peaks form. Combine yolks with 2 cups of buttermilk, mix with dry ingredients, just til wet. (DO NOT OVER MIX). Gently fold in 1/2 the egg whites. Fold in remaining egg whites.

Bake in waffle iron to desired doneness.

Don't forget, some toasted pecans, bananas and whipped cream!
