Hot and Spicy Spareribs

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds pork spareribs
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can tomato sauce (15oz)
  • 2/3 cup cider vinegar
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon prepared mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

Preparation

Step 1

MELT butter in large skillet over low heat. Add onion and garlic; cook and stir until tender. Add all remaining ingredients except ribs. Bring to a boil over high heat; reduce heat to low and simmer 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

PREPARE grill. Place large piece of heavy duty foil over coals to catch drippings. Baste meaty sides of ribs with sauce. Place ribs on the grid, meaty sides down; baste top side. Grill, on covered grill about 6 inches from the coals for about 20 minutes. Turn ribs and baste. Cook 45 minutes more or until tender, basting every 10-15 minutes. Do not baste during last 5 minutes of grilling.
