MICROWAVE LASAGNA

  • 1 jar (32 oz) spaghetti sauce with meat
  • 1 tsp each oregano leaves and dry basil
  • 1 large clove garlic, pressed
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 package lasagna noodles
  • 1/2 pound lean ground beef
  • 3 cups shredded cheddar or jack cheese
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 pkg (8 oz) mozzarella cheese, thinly sliced
  • Grated Parmesan cheese

Preparation

Step 1

1. Open spaghetti sauce jar and stir in oregano, basil and garlic. Pour about 1/3 of the sauce evenly into an 8 x 11 inch baking dish, then stir water into the remaining sauce and set aside.

2. Arrange 1/3 of the noodles in a single layer in the dish. Crumble uncooked beef on top. Sprinkle with ½ of the cheese, then evenly pour over about 1/3 of the remaining sauce.

3. Arrange ½ of the remaining noodles on top and sprinkle with remaining cheese. Distribute riccota over all, then pour over ½ of the remaining sauce.

4. Add remaining noodles; cover with rest of sauce.

5. Cover dish and cook in microwave at half power for 10 minutes. Turn and cook another 10 minutes, then let stand in oven, covered, for 5 minutes. Turn dish again and cook, covered, on full power for 7 minutes, turning dish several times.

6. Uncover lasagna and arrange mozzarella cheese on top. Sprinkle generously with Parmesan and cook, covered, for 2 minutes or until cheese is melted.

7. Remove from oven and let stand, covered, for 10 to 15 minutes.
