Chocolate Covered Raisin Cookies

Yield: 3 dozen cookies

In addition to the contents of the jar, you will need to add the following ingredients:

1/2 cup butter, softened
1 egg
1 teas vanilla extract

Chocolate-Covered Raisin Cookies

Preheat the oven to 375. In a large bowl, cream the butter, egg, and vanilla extracts. Add the contents of the jar, and stir until well mixed. Drop the dough by heaping teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased baking sheet, spacing the cookies about 2 inches apart. bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until light brown in color. Allow to cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet. Then transfer to wire racks and cool completely. Serve immediately, or store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chocolate-covered raisins
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teas baking powder
  • 1/2 teas baking soda
  • 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour

Preparation

Step 1

1. Wash and thoroughtly dry a 1 quart wide mouth canning jar.

2. Layer the ingredients in the jar as shown at left, pressing firmly with a flat bottomed object, such as a tart tamper or the bottom of a narrow glass, after each addition. Mkae the layers as level as possible.

3. Secure the lid, and decorate as desired. Attach the instructions for making the cookies found below.
