Rigatoni and Ham Bake

Ingredients

  • 2 quarts water
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 3 cups rigatoni or 1 3/4 cup elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups diced cooked ham
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 2 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup crushed potato chips
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • paprika if desired

Step 1

HEAT oven to 350.

BOIL water in large pot with the 2 teaspoons salt and tablespoon of oil. Add rigatoni and stir to separate. Cook uncovered after water returns to full rolling boil for 10-11 minutes. Stir occasionally, drain and rinse under hot water.

IN large bowl, combine cooked rigatoni, ham and 1 cup cheese.

IN medium saucepan, melt margarine. Blend in flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt and mustard. Add milk all at once. Cook until thickened, stirring constantly about one minute.

COMBINE sauce with rigatoni and turn into 2 quart casserole. Toss 1/2 cup cheddar cheese with potato chips; sprinkle over the top. Sprinkle with paprika if desired.

BAKE at 350 for 30 minutes.
