Ingredients
- 2 (6") sub rolls, split in half lengthwise
- 1-1/2 C cornflakes, crushed
- 1/2 small onion, minced
- 1/3 C whole or lowfat milk
- 6 TBL ketchup
- 1 TBL worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp minced fresh thyme
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 lg. egg, lightly beaten
- S & P
- 1-1/2 LBS 90% lean grd. beef
- 2 C shredded cheddar cheese
Preparation
Step 1
be sure to spread the meat to the edges of the rolls, or the bread will burn
TOAST ROLLS
adjust oven rack to upper-middle position
heat oven to 450
bake rolls, cut side up. on wire rack set inside rimmed baking sheet until golden & crisp - abt 5 min
MAKE MEAT MIX
combine cornflakes, onion, milk, 4 TBL ketchup, worces, thyme, garlic powder, egg, 1/2 tsp salt & 1 tsp peppe in lg bowl
add meat & knead gently until well combined
BAKE BURGERS
top toated rolls evenly w/ meat mixture, spreading meat to edges of rolls
brush top of meat mix. evenly w/ remaining ketchup & bake 20-25 min
top burgers w/ cheese & continue to bake until cheese melts - 3-4 min
let rest 4 min
