Short Ribs in Red Wine Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 pounds bone in beef short ribs
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 14 1/2 ounces stewed tomatoes undrained
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup red wine or beef broth
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

Preparation

Step 1

1. In skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add short ribs, sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cook 4-6 minutes, turning occasionally until browned.

2. In crock pot, place tomatoes, onion and tomato paste. Add ribs, wine, broth, and worcestershire sauce. Cook on low for 7-9 hours.

3. Remove ribs and bones from cooker; cover ribs to keep warm. Discard bones. Spoon off any fat. In small bowl, mix water and cornstarch. Stir into crock pot
and increase temp to high. Cover and cook for 10-15 minutes or until thick. Serve over ribs.l
