Preparation
Step 1
Heat oven to 350 degrees.
In large bowl with electric mixer at medium speed, beat butter, sugar, egg, vanilla, flour, baking soda and salt until thoroughly blended and smooth. Setting 1/4 cup semi-sweet baking pieces aside. Stir remainder into batter along with white chocolate pieces and walnuts.
Divide dough into 8 equal portions; place on ungreased large cookie sheets, spacing well apart. Using 2 forks, press each portion of dough into 3 1/2 inch rounds. Bake cookies 12-15 minutes until golden brown and firm to touch. Cool on cookie sheet 5 minutes; using large metal spatula, carefully remove cookies to wire rack to cool completely.
Prepare Glazes: In small heavy saucepan over very low heat, melt reserved semi- sweet chocolate pieces, stirring constantly until smooth. Remove from heat; let cool slightly. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, stir the confectioners' sugar and 1 tablespoon water until smooth. Using separate spoons, drizzle chocolate and confectioners' sugar over cooled cookies. Let stand about 10 minutes to set glazes.
