Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, sifted
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2/3 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 large egg white
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup mini semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 350 F. Coat 8 X 8 or 9 X 9 baking pan with cooking spray.

Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt in large bowl.

Put sugar, oil, egg, egg white and vanilla extract in small bowl. Whisk until smooth. Pour into flour mixture and stir until blended. Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts (batter will be stiff).

Spread batter into prepared pan. Bake 20-22 minutes or until edges are firm and toothpick in center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Let cool in pan on rack. Cut into 8 bars to serve.
