Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 8 tablespoons (1 stick) butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 2/3 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line 2 cookie sheets with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, combine the flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
In another medium bowl, add the butter and sugar. Using an electric mixer, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla, and mix until combined. Gradually add in the dry ingredients. Stir in the chocolate chips.
Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place two inches apart on the cookie sheets. (You may need to refrigerate the dough for 15 minutes if it is too soft.) Bake until the edges are firm, about 11 to 12 minutes. Cool on the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack. Repeat with the remaining dough.
