POUND CAKE (Five Roses)

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups of flour
  • 1/4 cup of cream of tartar
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of macis
  • 1 cup of butter
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

1. Mix flour, cream of tartar, salt and macis.
2. Beat butter and add sugar a little at a time beating well after each addition.
3. Add, one at a time, and beat well after each.
4. Add dry ingredients slowly until smooth.
5. Pour in a bread mold greased and floured.
6. Bake at 325 from 60-70 minutes.
7. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
