Ingredients

  • 1 cup of dates (1 1/2 cups water)
  • 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup of butter
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 egg non beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoon cream
  • 5 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup shredded coconut

Preparation

Step 1

1. Cream butter and add sugar, egg and vanilla. Mix well.
2. Sift flour, baking powder and baking soda.
3. Cook the dates in the water.
4. Add dry mixture and dates gradually to the butter mixture.
5. Pour in a greased pan and cook at 350 for 35-40 minutes.
6. Make the icing by mixing butter, cream, brown sugar and coconut and cook for 1 minute.
7. Pour on the cake and brown for a few minutes in the oven.
