SCOTCH SCONES (Chatelaine)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 4 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 5 tablespoons shortening
  • 1/2 cup currants
  • 2/3 cup of milk

Preparation

Step 1

1. Sift together sugar, flour, salt and baking powder.
2. Cut in shortening.
3. Add currants and stir in milk.
4. Turn out on floured board and knead
5. Pat out to desired thickness and cut in 4 rounds.
6. Place on baking sheet and bake until browned at 450.
