Sourdough Raisin Walnut Bread
Great as a quick breakfast on the go toasted with peanut butter
Ingredients
- 2 cups sour dough starter
- 1 TBL yeast
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 TBL olive oil
- 1 cup freshly ground wheat flour
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts

Preparation
Step 1
Proof yeast in milk, add all ingredients in the order listed except the raisins and walnuts. Mix dough with your stand mixer until it forms a ball around the hook and is smooth. It will pool back into the bowl when the mixer is turned off ( expect it to be sticky).
Stir in the walnuts and raisins until blended well by hand or on a low speed with your mixer.
Cover the bowel and let it rise until double in size about 2 hours.
Remove from bowl with floured or greased hands to prevent the dough from sticking to you. Divide it into 2 equal pieces shaping them into rounds and placing them on parchment paper covered with a towel. It will take approx 1/2 hour for the loaves to rise. Slash each just prior to baking. Bake at 400' for 30 min.
