SOFT MOLASSES COOKIES

Ingredients

  • Directions:
  • 2 ½ cups sifted flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup soft shortening
  • ½ cup light molasses
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ teaspoon lemon extract
  • 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • ½ teaspoon cloves
  • Raisins for topping
  • ●Sift flour, baking powder, soda, and salt together into a large bowl.
  • ●Cream shortening and sugar; add molasses, spices and egg.
  • ●Add flour and milk alternately to cream mixture; add flavoring.
  • ●Chill for 1 hour.
  • ●Heat oven to 375 degrees.
  • ●Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets; top each with a raisin.
  • ●Bake 12 to 15 minutes
