Beef Bourguignon

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lb beef bottom round or round steak
- 1 1/4 c red wine
- 2 tb brandy
- 2 tb sunflower oil
- 6 oz bacon sliced
- 8-12 baby onions
- 4-6 garlic cloves
- 3 tbs flour
- 2/3 cups beef broth
- few fresh thyme

Preparation
Step 1
Cut beef into cubes. Place in a shallow dish and pour red wine and brandy. Cover and leave to marinate at least 30 minutes. Drain and reserve the marinade.
Heat oil in large pan and sear beef and chopped bacon on all sides and remove and reserve. Add baby onions and garlic and saute for 5 minutes. Return seared meat to pan. Sprinkle flour and cook stirring for 3 minutes then take off heat. Gradually stir in reserved marinade and broth. Bring to boil the transfer to slow cooker. Cover reduce heat and cook for 5-7 hours.
