Ingredients
- 1 tsp. extra virgin olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 (20 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
- 1 tsp. dried basil
- 1 tsp. dried oregano
Preparation
Step 1
Heat the oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the garlic and saute for about 1 minute, until the garlic is lightly browned.
Add the tomato sauce and paste, salt, pepper, basil and oregano, and mix well. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
Serve immediately over hot pasta, or cool and ladle into containers for refrigeration or freezing.
To make your tomato sauce a little more exciting, we recommend sauteing vegetables along with the garlic before adding the tomato sauce, such as:
zucchini
yellow squash
mushrooms
spinach
onion
broccoli
