Sausage Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound sausage meat
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Preparation

Step 1

Brown sausage meat. Drain very well. Crumble. Set aside.

Put flour, baking powder, soda and salt in large bowl. Cut in butter until crumbly. Stir in sausage meat. Make a well in center.

Pour buttermilk into well. Stir quickly to form soft dough. Turn out on floured surface. Knead 8 - 10 times. Pat or roll 3/4 inch thick. Cut into rounds, squares or triangles. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake in 450F oven for 12 - 15 minutes until browned.
