Walnut Slices

Ingredients

  • Base:
  • 1 1/4 cups brown sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • Top Layer:
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 eggs, beaten lightly
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup coconut
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Combine ingredients for base and press into 9" square pan. Bake at 350 deg. for 8 minutes. (The mixture will still be quite white.) Reduce temperature setting to 300 deg.

Combine ingredients for topping. Spread over base and bake at 300 deg. for 45 minutes. Cool.

Makes 32 bars.
