Ingredients
- 16 oz. ziti pasta
- 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
- 1/2 lb. ground turkey breast
- 1 (32 oz) jar or 4 cups of chunky pasta sauce
- 1 Tbsp. Italian sesasoning - divided
- 8 oz. Shredded mozzarella cheese - divided
- 1 (15 oz) container low-fat cottage cheese (or Ricotta cheese)
- 2 egg whites
- 1/4 cup fresh grated parmesan cheese - divided
- 1 bunch fresh parsley - chopped
Preparation
Step 1
Heat oven to 350. Coat a 9x13 baking dish with Pam.
Cook pasta according to directions & drain.
In a dutch oven, cook beef & turkey for 6 minutes on medium until no longer pink. Drain.
Add to pasta sauce & 2 tsp. of Itallian seasoning. Add chopped fresh parsley. Stir cooked pasta into meat sauce and spread half of mixture evenly in dish. Top with half the mozzarella cheese. Combine cottage cheese & egg whites (or ricotta & egg whites), plus 2 Tbsp. Parmesan cheese & remaining aItalian seasoning. Spread over mozzarell cheese in dish. Spread remaining pasta mixture over cottage/ricotta cheese mixture. Sprinkle with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan.
Bake 35-40 minutes or until hot & cheese is golden. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
