Breslauer Steak with Mushroom Sauce AKA German Hamburgers

Ingredients

  • 3/4 ground veal
  • 3/4 ground pork
  • 2 tbsp minced chives
  • 1/4 cup minced onions
  • 1/8 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • table grind black pepper
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil or use Pam Cooking Spray
  • 8 oz white mushrooms,cleaned and sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 cup beef broth or stock
  • 1/4 cup minced parsley

Preparation

Step 1

1.Combine the veal, pork, chives,onion, nutmeg, salt and pepper in a large bowl and mix to combine the ingredient thoroughly, shape into 4 to 6 patties, depending on what size you would like the patties
2.Heat the extra virgin olive oil in a large non stick skillet. Cook the patties for 10 minutes, turning 3-4 times to evenly browned.Pour off accumulated fat and discard
3. While meat patties are cooking, Melt butter in a medium non stick skillet over medium heat, add lemon juice, and then mushrooms. Cook for 1 minute. Stir in flour. Gradually add the beef broth(stock), stirring constantly until thick and smooth. Season with salt and pepper. Add the mushroom sauce to the meat patties after you have drained the fat,cover the patties with the mushroom sauce, cover skillet and cook over low heat for 15 minutes. Stir in parsley
4. Serve with mashed potatoes
