RED LOBSTER GARLIC CHEESE BISCUITS

  • 2 CUPS MINUS 1 TABLESPOON ALL-
  • PURPOSE FLOUR
  • 1 TABLESPOON + 2 TEASPOONS BAKING
  • POWDER
  • 1/2 TEASPOON BAKING SODA
  • 1 PINCH SALT
  • 3 TABLESPOON STICK MARGARINE
  • CHILLED
  • 3/4 CUP LOWFAT BUTTERMILK
  • 1-1/2 OUNCES SHARP CHEDDAR CHEESE,
  • GRATED
  • 1/4 TEASPOON GARLIC POWDER

Preparation

Step 1

PREHEAT OVEN TO 450 DEGREES.
LINE BAKING SHEET WITH PARCHMENT OR WAX PAPER, SPRAY WITH COOKING SPRAY
IN MEDIUM BOWL, SIFT TOGETHER THE FLOUR, BAKING POWDER, BAKING SODA AND SALT
ADD 2 TABLESPOONS OF THE MARGARINE AND BLEND WITH PASTRY CUTTER (CAN USE FORK)
UNTIL MIXTURE RESEMBLES COARSE CRUMBS.
ADD BUTTERMILK AND CHEESE; COMBINE WITH FORK HANDLING DOUGH AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE.
DROP BY SPOONFULS ONTO PREPARED BAKING SHEET.
BAKE UNTIL BROWNED 8-10 MINUTES.
1. WHILE BISCUITS ARE BAKING, IN
SMALL MICROWAVABLE BOWL, ADD
REMAINING TABLESPOON OF MARGARINE
AND MICROWAVE ON HIGH UNTIL
MELTED 5 - 10 SECONDS.
2. STIR IN GARLIC POWDER, SET ASIDE.
WHEN BISCUITS ARE DONE, REMOVE FROM OVEN AND SERVE IMMEDIATELY.
NOTE: I OFTEN FIND THAT I NEED TO MAKE A LITTLE EXTRA MARGARINE/GARLIC MIXTURE FOR DRIZZLING OVER THE TOP OF THE BISCUITS - THE MORE GARLIC THE BETTER!
