Tartan Christmas Tree Cookies

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup (1stick) unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vnilla extract
- 1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 9 oz.'s good quality white chocolate(such as Lindt or Baker's)
- Blue, red and green food coloring
- 2 small resealable plastic bags

Step 1
Preheat oven to 325@. Using mixer, beat butter in large bowl until light. Gradually beat in powdered sugar. Beat in vanilla. Add flour and salt and mix until just combined. Gather dough into ball; flatten into disk. Wrap disk in plastic and refrigerate until firm, about 3 hours.
Roll out daugh on floured work surface to 1/8" thickness, frequently listing and turning dough to prevent sticking. Using a 5" Christmas tree cookie cutter, cut out cookies. Gather dough scraps together. Roll out again and cut cookies. This recipe using a 5" cutter only makes 10. I use smaller cutter's and get about 20. Transfer cookie to 2 large cookie sheets, spacing apart. Bake until cookies begin to rown around edges, about 12-15 min. Cool on baking sheet 5 min. Transfer cookies to racks carefully to cool completely.
