Overnight Eggnog French Toast Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 T maple syrup
  • 1 loaf french bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • cinnamon
  • nutmeg
  • 8 eggs
  • 2 cups prepared eggnog
  • 1 t vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Grease a 9 x 13 pan.

In a medium saucepan, melt butter. Stir in brown sugar & maple syrup until mixture comes to a boil. Remove from heat & pour into baking pan. Arrange bread cubes over brown sugar mixture. Sprinkle bread cubes with cinnamon & nutmeg.

In a large bowl, whisk eggs and mix in eggnog & vanilla. Evenly pour over mixture over bread cubes. Press lightly on the bread to make sure it's all coated. Tightly cover baking pan with aluminum foil and refrigerate overnight, at least 8 hours.

Remove from the refrigerator. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Bake, covered, for 40 minutes. Increase oven to 375 degrees and remove foil. Bake, uncovered, for an additional 5 - 10 minutes or until toothpick is clean and top is puffy and brown.
