Cup Powdered Sugar
Stick Cold Butter (not margarine)
Can (7-8 oz.) Almond Paste
Tbs. Butter, softened (not margarine)
Cup Cherry Jam
Cup Sliced Natural Almonds
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a 13" x 9" metal pan with foil, grease foil. Prepare crust: In medium bowl, stir flour with powdered sugar. Cut in butter until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Press crumbs on bottom of pan. Bake 16-18 minutes or until light golden brown. Remove from oven and cool on wire rack. Prepare filling: crumble almond paste then stir in sugar, butter and salt until crumbly. Beat in vanilla and eggs until smooth. Beat in flour until just combined. Spread jam over crust, then poor almond mixture over jam. Sprinkle with almonds. Bake 25-30 minutes until top is light golden brown. Cool in pan on wire rack. Transfer bars with foil onto cutting board and cut into bars.
