Overnight Oatmeal

  • 6

Ingredients

  • TOPPING:
  • 3 c 1% milk
  • 3 c water
  • 1-1/2 c steel cut oats
  • 1/2 c packed dark-brown sugar
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 2 apples (such as Gala or Granny Smith), cored and diced
  • 2 Tbsp packed dark-brown sugar
  • 3 Tbsp sweetened dried cranberries or raising
  • 3 Tbsp chopped walnuts

Preparation

Step 1

Oatmeal:

Coat a slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray (or a crock-pot liner).

Combine milk, water, the oats, 1/4 cup of the brown sugar and the salt in slow cooker. Cover and cook overnight on LOW for 9-1/2 to 10 hours.

Uncover and stir in remaining 1/4 c brown sugar. Set aside.

Stir oatmeal, spoon about 1 cup into bowls and top with desired toppings.

**It was too soupy, I added some quick cook oats. Next time, use less water or more steel-cut oats.
