Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar (scant)
- 2 tbsp. cornstarch
- 1/3 cup cocoa (scant)
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 cups milk, scalded
- 1/2 cup milk, cold
- 2 egg yolks, beaten
- 2 tsp. butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
Step 1
Mix cornstarch, salt, sugar and cocoa to a smooth paste with cold milk. Add scalded milk and cook for 20 minutes, stirring constantly until thickened. Add butter and vanilla.
Add to the beaten egg yolks, a little at a time. Return to pot and cook 5 minutes longer.
Chocolate Pie:
Increase cornstarch to 3 tbsp.
