Meatballs en Brochettes

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 lbs meat loaf mix (equal parts of ground beef, veal and pork)
  • 1 egg
  • 2 Tbsp minced fresh chives or green onion tops
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 4 strips bacon, partially cooked
  • 8 mushroom caps
  • 4 Italian plum tomatoes or small red tomatoes, cut crosswise
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

Preparation

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine the meat loaf mix, egg, chives, salt and pepper.

Divide mixture into 8 parts. Shape each part into a round ball.

Cut bacon into two parts crosswise.

Thread skewers with first a meatball, then a folded, halved piece of bacon, a mushroom cap and a half of a tomato. Repeat.

Combine soy sauce, vegetable oil and sesamee oil.

Brush skewers with soy sauce mixture.

Grill over hot coals or under preheated broiler for 7 to 8 minutes on each side or until cooked through and well browned. Brush occasionally with soy sauce mix. Serve hot
