Bacon & Caramelized Onion Cheeseburger

Ingredients
- 3 tbs canola oil -divided
- 2 yellow onions thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 lb ground beef
- s/p to taste
- 2 slices cheddar cheese
- 2 brioche buns
- 4 slices of applewood smoked bacon

Preparation
Step 1
In a large skillet heat 2 tbs of canola oil over med heat
add onions and cook - stirring occasionally until golden brown about 30 min
add brown sugar and stir and cook for 5 min
add beef broth and apple cider vinegar and let liquid reduce unit it can coat the back of a spoon (consistency of honey) - about 10 min
Remove from heat and let cool (this can be stored in air tight container for 1 wk in re fridge)
Form the ground beef into patties - season with s/p and drizzle 1 tsp of oil
Heat grill and cook burgers for 5-6 minutes on each side
top burgers with cheese for last minute of cooking
Toast brioche buns on grill
Serve with caramelized, onions bacon and your favorite toppings.
