  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup plus 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 3/4 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups sour cherries

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350. Put butter in a 9x13 inch baking dish, and set in oven to melt while oven is preheating. Remove as soon as butter has melted, about 5 minutes.

Stir together 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, and baking powder. Mix in milk until well blended. Then pour batter over butter in pan. DO NOT STIR.

Put cherries in bowl and toss with remaining 3/4 cup sugar and tablespoon of flour. Distribute cherry mixture evenly over batter. DO NOT STIR.

Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until golden brown. A toothpick inserted in the cobbler should come out clean.
