Frankly Savoury Cabbage

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • 2 cups sliced onions
  • 8 coarsely-shredded cabbage
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3 tablespoons prepared mustard
  • 1 pound weiners, cut in 1-inch pieces

Step 1

Melt butter in a large saucepan or Dutch oven. Add caraway seeds and onion. Sautê until onion is tender. Add cabbage; cover and cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, 5 to 10 minutes or until cabbage is tender. Blend in flour and salt. Stir milk into mustard; gradually add to cabbage. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture just comes to a boil and thickens. Add weiners to cabbage and cook, stirring occasionally until weiners are heated through.

Makes 6 to 8 servings.
