Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 sticks butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup wheat bran
- 1/4 cup flax meal
- 1 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
Preparation
Step 1
With an electric mixer, cream together butter and sugars; then add vanilla and eggs. In a separate bowl, combine the soda, flours, bran and flax meal. You can use 2 1/4 cup whole wheat flour in place of the mix of flours, bran and flax meal. Gradually add flour mixture to other bowl; mix well. Add nuts and chocolate ships and mix well. Drop by rounded spoonfuls on a cookie sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes @ 375ºF.
You could also freeze the dough in rounded spoonfuls to bake at a latter time. This helps with diet management by only cooking 2 for each family member at a meal.
