- 4 pounds brisket of beef
- 2 large onions
- Salt to taste
- Freshly-ground black pepper to taste
- Garlic to taste
- 1/2 cup catsup
- 1/2 cup chili sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup A-1 steak sauce
Place sliced onions in bottom of roasting pan. Place meat fat-side up on top of the onions. Mix remaining ingredients and pour over meat. Roast uncovered 350 degrees for one hour. Baste. Add water if necessary. Cover and roast another hour.
Cool the roast. Slice thin. Put back into gravy. Cover and roast until tender, about 1 more hour.
