Homemade Fajita Seasoning Mix

By

My family loves simple, skillet fajitas. They are so easy to prepare, especially if you use one of those handy Fajita Seasoning Packets you can find at the grocery store. I usually buy 10 or so at a time to keep in my food storage for those busy nights when we need something quick. However, the last several times I’ve made skillet fajitas I have been fresh out of seasoning packets. What is a poor girl to do! Nothing but spend a few minutes with Google and find a recipe for homemade fajita mix, that’s what. Which is actually a lot easier than heading back to the store, I have found. :) I’ve tried several recipes over the past few months and this one I have to share with you today, is by far the best. I have increased the serving size quite a lot, so the recipe makes almost 2 Cups of mix, which should be enough to make fajitas 10 or more times.

  • 5 mins

Ingredients

  • 1/2 C cornstarch
  • 1/3 C chili powder
  • 3 Tb salt
  • 3 Tb smoked paprika
  • 3 Tb sugar
  • 1 Tb onion powder
  • 1 Tb garlic powder
  • 2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 1/2 Tb cumin

Preparation

Step 1

1. Grab all of your ingredients.
2. Into a small mixing bowl place 1/2 C cornstarch, 1/3 C chili powder, 3 Tb salt, 3 Tb smoked paprika, 3 Tb sugar, 1 Tb onion powder,
1 Tb garlic powder, 2 tsp cayenne pepper and 1 1/2 Tb cumin.
3. Mix it all together, thoroughly.
4. Carefully pour it into an airtight container. I used a funnel and a pint jar. Cover your container with a nice secure lid. Be sure to label the outside of your container so you don't go mixing it up with say...cocoa powder, or something like that.

Yield: 1 3/4 C mix (enough to make fajitas 10+ times)
