Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup orange juice
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 2 tblsp grated orange peel
  • 1/2 cup miniature semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • sugar 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Step 1

Heat oven to 375. Grease cookie sheets. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. In large bowl, combine flour, 1/3 cup sugar, baking powder, salt and baking soda; blend well. Using fork or pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add orange juice, milk and orange peel. Stir just until dry ingredients are moistened. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto greased cookie sheets.

In small bowl, combine topping ingredients; sprinkle over scones. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until light golden brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheets. Serve warm.
