Ingredients

  • 1-1/4 c. 1-1/4 c. (2-1/2sticks) butter, softened
  • 3/4 c. 3/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. 1/2 c. granulated sugar
  • 1 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1-1/2 c. 1-1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. 1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
  • 1 tsp. 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 3 c. 3 c. quick oats

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 375F. Beat margarine and sugars until creamy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Add combined flour, baking soda, salt and spices; mix well. Stir in oats. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8-9 minutes for a chewy cookie/10-11 minutes for a crisper cookie. Cool 1 minute on cookie sheet; remove to wire rack.
