Chocolate Ameretto Bars

Ingredients
- Crust:
- 3 C flour
- 1 C (2 sticks) margarine, softened
- 1/2 C brown sugar, packed
- Filling:
- 4 eggs
- 3/4 C corn syrup
- 3/4 C sugar
- 1/4 C amaretto liqueur or 1/2 t almond extract
- 2 T margarine, melted
- 1 T cornstarch
- 2 C (about 7 oz) sliced almonds
- 2 C (12 oz package) semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided

Preparation
Step 1
For Crust:
Beat flour, margarine and brown sugar in medium mixing bowl until crumbly. Press into greased 13"x 9" baking pan. Bake in preheated 350oF oven 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. (Note: try substituting graham cracker or vanilla wafer crust.)
For Filling:
Beat eggs, corn syrup, sugar, liqueur, margarine and cornstarch in medium bowl with a wire whisk. Stir in almonds and 1 2/3 C chocolate chips. Pour and spread over hot crust.
Bake at 350oF for 25-30 minutes or until center is set. Cool in pan to room temperature on wire rack. If desired, top with Chocolate Drizzle. Chill for 5 minutes until chocolate is firm. Cut into bars. Makes 2 1/2 dozen.
For Chocolate Drizzle:
Place remaining 1/3 C chocolate chips in heavy-duty plastic bag. Microwave on High (100%) power for 45 seconds; knead bag to mix. Microwave at additional 10 second intervals, kneading until smooth. Cut a small hole in corner of bag; squeeze to drizzle chocolate over bars.
