Butter Cookies with Cherries

My favorite from my Uncle Joe Flacco

Ingredients

• 1/2 cup Crisco
• 1/2 cup butter - softened
• 2 cups sugar
• 4 eggs
• 3 tsp vanilla
• 3 cups flour
• 2 tsp baking powder
• 1 tsp salt

Preparation

Step 1

Cream shortening, butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Blend in flour, baking powder and salt. Chill for 2 hours. Place in pastry bag with star tip. Squeeze out onto cookie sheet starting in center and winding around. Place 1/4 or 1/2 or a maraschino cherry on top. Bake for 8-10 minutes.
