Ingredients
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp. soda
- 2 well-beaten eggs
- 3 cups quick-cooking oatmeal
- 1 tsp. vanilla 1 cup pecans, broken up (you can use walnuts if you prefer)

Preparation
Step 1
Thoroughly cream shortening and sugars.
Add beaten eggs and vanilla - beat well.
Sift dry ingredients (I don't sift); add to creamed mixture.
Add oats and nuts; mix well.
Drop by spoonful's onto ungreased cookie sheet in moderate oven (350 degrees) for 10 to 15 minutes.
Recipe makes 5 dozen, depending on how big of spoonful's you use.
The cookies will freeze to be used later if you wish. They will be crispy, if you wish to soften them, put in microwave for 20 seconds before eating
