Lasagna--Manchester

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 18 ounces canned tomatoes
  • 4 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons basil
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 pound mozzarella cheese
  • 3 tablespoons shortening
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 18 ounces tomato paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons oregano
  • 1 package lasagna noodles, cooked
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese

Preparation

Step 1

Brown ground beef in shortening and pour off drippings. Add onion and garlic; cook until tender. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, and seasonings; cover tightly and simmer. Remove bay leaf.

Arrange half of noodles in a greased 9 x 13 baking dish; add half of meat sauce, and cover with half of mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers with remaining noodles, meat sauce and cheese. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.

Bake at 350 for 30-45 minutes.
