Ingredients

  • 4 slices stale French bread (about 1 1/4" thick)
  • 1 c. milk
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 tblsp. butter
  • 2 tblsp. oil
  • 2 tsp. powdered sugar mixed with 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Preparation

Step 1

1. In a large bowl combine the milk, eggs, sugar & vanilla.
2. Soak the bread slices in the mixture for a few minutes.
3. Melt the butter & oil in a heavy skillet.
4. Fry the soaked bread one or two at a time on each side, until golden brown.
5. Sprinkle with cinnamon & sugar just before serving.
6. Serve with syrup.
