Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 cups sugar
- 1 pound butter, softened
- 3/4 cup milk
- 6 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Preparation
Step 1
1. Place flour, sugar, butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla (in that order) in a 4-quart mixing bowl. Beat mixture at low speed with a heavy-duty electric mixer 1 minute, stopping to scrape down sides. Beat at medium speed 2 minutes. Pour batter into a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan.
2. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 30 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack 10 minutes. Remove cake from pan, and cool completely on wire rack. Yield: 1 (10-inch) cake.
