Baked Turkey

  • 18 to 20 lb. turkey
  • 4 c. water
  • Butter

Step 1

Butter turkey in side and out, well on breast side. Put water in roasting pan, place turkey breast side up. Cover tightly with roaster lid. Place in 450 degrees preheated oven for 1 hour and 45 minutes. Turn oven off. DO NOT OPEN OVEN DOOR. Leave in overnight. Next morning, it's ready to slice. Very moist and delicious. I usually put in oven around 10 p.m., shut off in 1 hour and 45 minutes and get up eary and slice. Reheat in microwave or oven when ready to serve.
